Jasmine Jackson, an Atlanta, Georgia native, discovered her love for the arts and their power of expression at an early age. While pursuing an undergraduate dance degree at Belhaven University, Jackson had the opportunity to perform in a number of historic and new dance works choreographed by Donald McKayle (“Songs of the Disinherited”), Helen Tamiris (“Negro Spirituals”), Ryan Corriston (Doug Verone and Dancers), Steve Rooks (Martha Graham Dance Company), and Vincent Hardy (Complexions Contemporary Ballet). In 2014, she received the People’s Choice Award for Best Original Screendance at the Belhaven University 2013/2014 Screendance Festival and was inducted into the National Honors Society of Dance Arts. Jackson graduated from Belhaven University with a BA in Dance, Cum Laude in 2015. She’s built her career in the arts sector since her graduation; teaching, performing, and working in arts administration in multiple states.
